Are you wondering what the difference is between Invisalign treatment for adults and Invisalign Teen? Unlike the regular version, Invisalign Teen comes with advanced features, such as compliance indicators, eruption tabs, and additional replacement aligners. Teenagers can be sensitive about their looks so traditional metal braces might not be the best treatment method for them. This is why Dr. Junée F. Gardy provides Invisalign Teen in Naples, FL. Invisalign Teen can safely and effectively adjust the alignment and position of a patient's teeth in about 1 – 2 years using removable aligners. If your child is worried about metal braces, book a consultation at Junée F. Gardy DDS, PA to learn more about Invisalign Teen.

Am I a Candidate for Invisalign Teen?

Invisalign Teen can help to correct many of the same problems as traditional metal braces can, including crooked teeth, gaps between teeth, and bite misalignment. For teens who have more extensive orthodontic needs - like those who may have rotated teeth or a significant bite misalignment - Dr. Gardy may recommend another treatment option either before or in place of Invisalign Teen.

It is also important to consider your teen's level of responsibility when determining whether they may be ready for Invisalign Teen, as they'll need to wear their aligners for at least 20-22 hours per day and keep up with the removable aligners while at school and social activities. Fortunately, Invisalign Teen has a built-in indicator to ensure your teen is wearing their aligners for an adequate period of time each day.

What are the Benefits of Invisalign Teen?

Invisalign Teen aligners allow your teenager to get their dream smile without embarrassing metal brackets and wires. Some benefits of working with our team at Junée F. Gardy DDS, PA include:

  • Comfort: Invisalign aligners are made from smooth, flexible plastic that won’t irritate the delicate gums and soft tissue in your teen’s mouth.
  • Discreet treatment: Invisalign Teen aligners are virtually invisible, so they won’t feel self-conscious about their appearance.
  • Removable aligners: Traditional braces are stuck in place for the duration of treatment, which can make eating certain foods difficult. Invisible aligners can be removed at any time.
  • No restrictions: With traditional braces, some activities need to be avoided due to the risk of damaging the brackets and wires. Now your teenager won’t have to worry about any restrictions!

You and your teen will attend a consultative appointment with Dr. Gardy to talk about treatment goals, feelings about having an orthodontic aligner, and what's to be expected through the correction period. Typically, the process will take 1 – 2 years, but this will vary with each patient. To begin the treatment, Dr. Gardy will take multiple x-rays from various angles and take an impression of the teeth. These will be sent off to a lab where the clear aligners will be made and customized to fit your teen's mouth. Once the first set of aligners is created, your teen will need to return to our office for the initial fitting.
